This quote references the Cytec CTO’s appreciation of carbon fiber’s raw material evolution. The first was rayon, the second pitch, and the third PAN (polyacryonitrile). Visiting the originator of New Carbon’s innovation, the former Cytec CTO held and manipulated a pure yarn and noted it’s unique mechanical attributes compared to all other carbon fiber.
